Saturday, we went to Okotoberfest at Oaks Amusement Park. I am told it was practice for The Polish Fest next weekend, one of the most highly anticipated festivals of the year. Festing in Portland is serious business.
There were a lot of people that came out to drink beer, listen to The Polkatones and do the Chicken Dance. And it made me happy to see (mostly) older men decked out in their lederhosen, high socks, and suspenders. They had various pins and feathers in their hats. This is the day they get to break out the duds and honor their heritage. They are proud of their culture. Many of them were cutting a rug on the dance floor.

Oktoberfest was pretty bad ass. The Polish Fest is going to have to bring their A Game to beat it.
